Our 2013 Show Scape & HighlightsIt’s overdue since I sat down to write a blog about SSJ. This year has been relentless in good and bad ways. Let me share our highlights and what’s coming up! We debuted our album ealrier this year, “A Thousand Years Ago” and each cd release concert was sold out to a very engaged audience. Our fan base has doubled after a couple of tough years chumming the hustle! We’ve expanded our reach and are being aired in Australia and France. We are being booked in neighboring states and have a standing invitation in New York City. We’re gigging every month, and, we’re currently ranked #4 on the local Jazz charts. It’s been my vision since we formed in 2008, to make SSJ a “dinner and a show” event. Low and behold it’s 2013 and several venues are now showcasing “dinner and a jazz show” everywhere. The intimacy and deliberateness of this format allows for the audience to not only have a great experience, but the very intention of purchasing tickets bridges venues with people who are coming on purpose to eat and “listen” to great entertainment. The venue is happy. The band is happy. Friends and fans are made. Win-win! Meanwhile, the next cd is in formation, entitled “On My Sleeve”. Organized with voice, piano, horn and string bass. I intend to present a raw interpretation of some classy favorites. This album will again feature my core group: Brian Felix, Zack Page and Rich Willey. I’m so excited to be upclose in session with these passionate players and the melodic genius of Willey on trumpet. For the rest of the year, we’ll be performing as a trio at the Classic Wineseller, The Carnegie Hotel and the Frog’s Level Brewery. Thank you for your dedication to us, especially as we grow! Eve Haslam
